Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 14, 2026
Summary
- Accounts are for parents and guardians (18+). Children do not use AskJunie directly.
- We collect only what's needed to provide coaching: your email, your parenting profile, and the limited child context you choose to share.
- Messages are sent to Anthropic to generate replies. We do not sell data and do not train external AI models on it.
- You can export or delete all of your data at any time from the Profile page.
1. Who this policy applies to
AskJunie ("we", "us") provides parenting coaching to adults. This policy covers information we process about you (the parent account holder) and the limited information you provide about your child for coaching context. AskJunie is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. See our Terms of Service for eligibility rules.
2. What we collect
From you (the parent):
- Email address and password (handled by our auth provider, Supabase).
- Parenting profile: parenting style, values, and preferences you select during onboarding.
- Subscription and billing metadata from Paddle (customer ID, plan, status, period end). We never see or store your card number.
About your child (only what you choose to enter):
- A first name or nickname you provide.
- Birth month and year (used to compute approximate age for age-appropriate guidance).
- Optional notes about temperament, health context, and current challenges.
From your use of the app:
- Chat sessions and messages between you and the coach.
- Standard server logs (IP, user agent, timestamps) for security and debugging.
We ask you not to enter full names, addresses, schools, photos, government identifiers, or sensitive medical records. The app surfaces in-product reminders to keep entries minimal.
3. How we use it
- To generate coaching responses tailored to your parenting profile and child context.
- To maintain your account, authenticate you, and provide customer support.
- To process subscription payments via Paddle.
- To detect abuse, secure the service, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your data, do not use it for advertising, and do not allow third-party AI providers to use it to train their models.
AskJunie draws on publicly available parenting frameworks and evidence-based methodologies. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in partnership with the authors or publishers of any referenced works. References to frameworks such as Whole Brain Child, Positive Discipline, Montessori, and others are for descriptive purposes only.
4. Who we share it with
- Anthropic — your messages and the relevant child context are sent to Anthropic's API to generate coaching replies.
- Supabase — hosts the database (Postgres) and handles authentication.
- Paddle — processes subscriptions and stores billing details.
- Cloudflare — serves the app and runs server functions at the edge.
We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party for commercial purposes.
5. Children's privacy (COPPA)
AskJunie is for parents, not children. The limited child information in your account is provided by you, the parent, to receive coaching about your child. As the parent / legal guardian you can at any time:
- Review what we store about your child by exporting your data from the Profile page.
- Refuse further collection or use by deleting the child profile, or by deleting your account entirely.
- Request deletion of all child data from our active database.
If you believe a child has created an account directly without parental consent, email us at legal@askjunie.com and we will remove the account and any associated data.
6. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise the most common ones directly in-app:
- Access / portability: "Download my data" on the Profile page returns a machine-readable JSON export.
- Erasure: "Delete my account" on the Profile page removes your profile, child profiles, sessions, and messages and signs you out.
- Other requests (correction, restriction, objection, complaint): email legal@askjunie.com.
California residents (CCPA): We do not sell personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. California residents have the right to request disclosure of categories of personal information collected and the right to opt out of sale — however we do not engage in such sales. To exercise your rights, use the in-app controls described above or email legal@askjunie.com.
7. Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, child profiles, sessions, and messages are removed from the active database immediately.
Chat messages are retained for the duration of your account and permanently deleted when you delete your account. Billing records may be retained longer where required by tax or accounting law.
Encrypted backups are purged on a rolling 30-day schedule.
Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies and browser local storage only — for authentication session management and remembering your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings but this will prevent you from staying signed in.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to the production database is restricted and protected by row-level security so each account can only read its own rows. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovery by email to your registered address, as required by applicable US state laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act.
9. International transfers
Our processors (Supabase, Anthropic, Paddle, Cloudflare) may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated by email or via an in-app notice before they take effect.
11. Governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. For users based in Israel, we comply with the Privacy Protection Law 5741-1981 and its regulations. For users in the European Economic Area, processing is subject to GDPR as described in Section 6.
